YAMAHA GX-1

POSSIBLY BEST ORIGINAL UNRESTORED GX-1 IN THE WORLD

Hello and welcome to this webpage which i have setup purely to display detailed photos and information about our beautiful YAMAHA GX-1 synthesizer, i have also added links to bottom of page which will display larger, more detailed photos of this landmark keyboard.
It is currently located in
ADELAIDE,SOUTH AUSTRALIA where it has spent almost its entire life in one previous owners hands until me being in the right place at the right time due to my pinball collecting hobby and it becoming available
Its in amazing original condition have been sleeping, unused for most of its life and was purchased by me as the result of a deceased estate sale .
According to the family of the orginal owner this particular synth was originally imported to australia by YAMAHA and used as a factory demonstration model to showcase the capabilitys of the GX-1, and was shown around the australian market.
They told me is it was purchased new sometime around 1974, by there father
(now deceased) who was a very prominent (and rich) SOUTH AUSTRALIAN businessman for approximately $50,000.
They also told me it was never intended to be sold by YAMAHA and supposed to go back to the factory in JAPAN but obviously money talks and $50,000 in 1974 was a lot of money and would have bought about 3 houses back then
That part of it not meant to be sold when new doesnt make any sense to me purely from a business point of view regarding a product, but thats what i was told by the family.
Since then it has spent almost its entire life unused in the spare room of a house and the only time it was ever used publicly once in private hands was at a display for a small organisation.
When i came across it,the family told me it hadnt been turned on for 10 years
which was astounding for such a rare and beautiful piece.
So i did plug it in prior to purchase and she powered up straight away, unfortunately i am not a musician so am unable to play this keyboard other than to get sounds out in order to demonstrate it does still work.
From the information i have read both on the net and been conveyed by more knowledgable keyboard people there may have been approximately 50 GX-1s ever made but most of them went back to the factory when new , and it was only around
10 or less that were ever sold which may or may not be true, up to you to do more research if interested.
click here for some excellent info
This one is in very nice original, unrestored condition and is possibly the only one around that hasnt been subject to constant use and damage that comes from being played and shipped throughout the world by major musical groups etc.
This website was originally setup by me to promote and advertise this GX-1 for sale, mainly because it has been in deep storage for years with no room to display it
My situation has now changed for the better so we have finally took it out of storage and it now holds a prominent place in our family room for all to enjoy
Basically we would still consider selling but would only consider offers well over $100,000 as we arent concerned either way and dont mind having to see it everyday
If you think thats unrealstic, overpriced, whatever else please feel free to not let me know that, instead just take advantage of the opportunity to checkout photos of this beautiful piece of musical history and enjoy you life as i dont mind keeping this webpage online if only for people to get a kick out of it
or my email address is below if you wish to take things further, thanks
